We Used to Want to Know Who Was in Our House

We use to want to know who was in our house.

I remember when I was a child, one of our house rules was that when my mother was not home, we could not bring in other children to play.

However, when my mother was home, she would block the door and not let any child that she did not recognize come in without an interview from her. i.e. What is your name? What is your mother's name? Where do you live? . . . Our parents wanted know who was in our house - they wanted to know who their children were playing with. They wanted to keep us safe.
